Quick Tips to Get Back on Track for Retirement by Retirement DNA

Start the new year by saving a little more
The IRS raised retirement contribution limits for 2026, which means you may be able to save more than last year.
You don’t have to max out your account for it to matter. Even a small bump goes a long way.
Not saving yet? That’s okay. Enroll now and start with whatever amount feels comfortable. Just aim to increase it each year.
Make sure you’re getting the full company match
Our 401(k) plan matches 50% of your contributions on the first 6% of your base salary, up to $3,000.
- That’s extra money for your retirement, so be sure you’re contributing enough to take full advantage.
Build an emergency cushion
- Life happens. Car repairs or medical bills can pop up when you least expect them.
- A good goal is to have three months of expenses saved in an emergency account so you don’t have to dip into retirement savings.
Take care of the people who matter most
- Check your beneficiary designations, especially if you’ve had life changes like getting married, divorced, or growing your family.
- If you haven’t named beneficiaries yet, it’s important to do that as soon as possible.
Think about how your savings are taxed
- Whether you choose Traditional (pre-tax) or Roth (after-tax) contributions can affect how much income you have in retirement.
- There’s no one-size-fits-all answer. A mix of both might work best.
- You can book a one-on-one session with a 401(k) advisor to walk through your options.
Getting closer to retirement?
If you’re 50 or older, it’s a great time to check in on your retirement readiness.
- You can sign up for a complimentary, no-cost income needs analysis to see if you’re on track and what steps to take if adjustments are needed.
